What is Chase Credit Journey?
Chase Journey gives you access to this score for free, along with a 12 month history of your score. That way you can see changes of your score over time (which is super helpful if you're working to improve your credit score).
Chase Credit Journey Free Credit Score and Alerts provides your VantageScore 3.0 credit score from TransUnion. Your credit score refreshes weekly, but you can check it as often as you want. Checking your score will not impact your credit score.
Credit Journey will also provide you with a Credit Score Chart that will display you credit scores for the past 12 months. This lets you keep track of the trend in your credit score. Of course, you will have to be in the program for at least one year in order for the 12 scores to accumulate.
For security purposes, your Credit Journey VantageScore 3.0 will be visible to you, and no one else.
Chase Journey Free Credit Score
Chase Credit Journey allows you to check your VantageScore 3.0 from TransUnion for free. You might have heard of your FICO score before - which is one of the major credit scores that banks and companies use to check your credit. VantageScore is another credit score which is slightly different, but does the same thing.
They are basically slight variations on the same thing - how credit worthy you are.
Chase Journey Free Credit Alerts
In addition to your credit score, the Chase Credit Journey tool also provides free credit alerts to ensure that you're aware of any changes to your credit. This can really be helpful if you're concerned about identity theft.
You will get alerts on the following:
- New credit inquiries
- New accounts opened
- Any changes of address
- New public records reported on your credit report
- Changes in account status (either positive or negative)
- Delinquent account notices
- Fraud alerts
The Chase Journey tool also provides you with helpful actions you can take based on the alert. This is very helpful if you suspect any type of fraudulent activities.

Is Credit JourneySM really free?
Yes, the VantageScore® Credit Score and Credit JourneySM are free for all who visit the site. You do not have to be a Chase customer to enroll and use the service.
Does checking my Credit JourneySM impact my credit score?
No. Checking your Credit JourneySM does not impact your credit score. You should feel free to check your score and Credit JourneySM as often as you would like.
What credit score are you providing?
The score provided to you is the VantageScore® 3.0 credit score by TransUnion®. This score may differ from other scores you may have seen, as there are other providers and scores in the market. Chase and other lenders may use different credit scores and other types of information to make credit decisions. In addition, because the information reported on you and the calculation of the score can vary from credit bureau to credit bureau, it is possible for you to have different scores at each of the three credit reporting agencies — TransUnion, Experian and Equifax.
What's the difference between VantageScore® 3.0 credit score & other credit scores?
Other credit scores may use a different scoring model than the VantageScore® 3.0 scoring model, which is the one we use for Credit JourneySM. Credit scoring models are generally based on similar key factors that lenders want to know about before offering you credit.
These are some key factors that could affect your credit score:
- Your history of making payments on time
- How old your credit accounts are
- How much credit you are using
- Recent inquiries for credit
- Recently opened new credit or loan accounts
- How much credit you have available
I have a Chase Slate credit card. How is this different than my Slate Credit Dashboard?
In addition to the FICO® Score that you can already access through your Slate Credit Dashboard, with Credit Journey you'll get access to your VantageScore® 3.0 credit score from TransUnion®. For this reason, you may see two different scores in Credit Journey and your Slate Credit Dashboard. Credit Journey provides your VantageScore® 3.0 credit score by TransUnion. Your Slate Credit Dashboard provides a FICO® Score 8 based on Experian data.
Chase and other lenders may use different credit scores and other types of information to make credit decisions. In addition, because the information reported on you and the calculation of the score can vary from credit bureau to credit bureau, it is possible for you to have different scores at each of the three credit reporting agencies — Experian, Equifax and TransUnion.
Is the Identity Verification process really necessary?
The protection of your security and privacy are of utmost importance to us. Identity Verification is a powerful fraud protection tool because it asks questions that can only be answered by the person who is the subject of the credit report — without it, an unauthorized party could obtain your most private credit information.
Who can see my Credit JourneySM?
Your Credit JourneySM and VantageScore® Credit Score are visible only to you.
I still have questions, who should I contact?
You can email TransUnion questions here or you can also call.
